Stories of Justice Event Recap: An Evening of Hope with Amanda Knox

MEMPHIS, TN (October 17, 2025)

The Crosstown Concourse Theater was filled with emotion, empathy, and hope last Thursday evening as wrongful conviction survivor Amanda Knox joined the Tennessee Innocence Project for Stories of Justice: A Conversation with Amanda Knox. This powerful fundraising event brought together supporters, exonerees, and community leaders to highlight the problem of wrongful convictions and celebrate the resilience of those who have been exonerated.

Amanda Knox shared her story of spending nearly four years wrongfully imprisoned in Italy and enduring eight years on trial for a crime she did not commit. The evening featured a conversation between Knox and TIP Executive Director Jason Gichner, along with moving stories from Memphis-area TIP exonerees who have experienced firsthand the pain of being wrongfully imprisoned and the joy of finally regaining their freedom.

Since opening its Memphis office in 2023, TIP has helped free several local exonerees, including Artis Whitehead and Darren Price from Shelby County and Ricky Lee Webb from West Tennessee. Together, these men spent decades behind bars for crimes they did not commit. Shelby County leads the state in wrongful conviction cases, making TIP’s work in Memphis especially vital to addressing local injustices and preventing future ones.

The event was generously sponsored by Mary Lee Formanek (Presenting Sponsor), Rev. Dr. Lillian Lammers & Philip Lammers (Exoneration Sponsors), and Blair Lynch & Moonlighters Enterprises (Exoneration Sponsor).

All proceeds from Stories of Justice will directly supported TIP’s work to investigate innocence claims, litigate wrongful conviction cases, and advocate for policy reform to prevent future injustices.
